The first preparatory layer is brownish off-white and is mainly composed of aluminosilicates and calcium carbonate. The layer also contains some dolomite, feldspar, red earth (with associated pyrite) and carbon-based black; along with a little quartz.
The second preparatory layer is light red and is mainly composed of red earth (with associated pyrite), aluminosilicates and calcium carbonate. The layer also contains some dolomite, feldspar, quartz and carbon-based black.
