Barocci Drawings: White paper

White paper was the finest and most expensive. It could only be made using high-quality white linen rags and pure water. The colour defined as ‘white’ would have been different from modern white as the fibres present in the pulp would have turned yellow or brown during the fermentation process. Fibres would also change colour over time.
